  • Spokes of Hope Volunteer Opportunities:

  •      Volunteering can be as simple or as involved as you choose. Below are suggestions of ways you can make a difference in many lives, maybe even your own.
         In order to become a volunteer, you need to contact Spokes of Hope to find out what opportunities are available at the level you would like to participate.
    At events scheduled in your area:

    • Promote the event in your community

    Hand out fliers -bike shops, post on bulletin boards, at other area events, cancer centers, support groups.
    Work as a liason with the media – issue press releases, make contacts, post on local TV and radio calendars.
    Post on Facebook and twitter

    • Become an advocate

    Learn how Spokes of Hope patient advocacy works
    Find out how you can become involved as an advocate for cancer research support and change

    • Assist with planning a local event

    Course routing (have a say in the when, where and how)
    Find local sponsors (food for snack stops, bike shops, etc.)
    Connect with local hospitals or cancer support groups

    • Support a Spoke on the day of the event:

       Registration
       Course cheer leaders
       Finish line welcoming
       Snack stops
       Course marshaling
       Decorating
       Set up and take down
       Sag support

    • Become a Spokes coordinator for your area

    Take the lead and decide that a Spoke is going to happen in your area… Then with help, make it happen!
