By connecting survivors with patients in treatment, Spokes of Hope is able to reach patients where no one else can! Family is scared, healthcare workers are viewed as just doing their jobs, but when the Spokes team arrives and sits with patients and talks to them, and without pity or consolation… hope starts to grow.
To be able to see someone who has gone through, what they are going through at that moment, and has grown stronger despite it.
In addition to seeing the change in attitude of the patients, it is inspiring to see the sense of satisfaction in the Spokes persons themselves, as they realize that they were able to make a real difference in the lives and survivorship of others, and that their journey through cancer had a purpose.
